DIETITIAN TIPS:
  • Vegetables and Fruits
    Eat a minimum of three cups of vegetables every day. Try to consume at least two pieces of fruit per day. Shake up the color!!! An excellent goal would be to try to consume vegetables in a variety of colors. Each color contributes a different vitamin or mineral to your diet.
  • Limit the fat in your diet
    The average American consumes almost half of their daily calories from fat. An excellent goal would be to decrease the fat intake of an individuals diet to a maximum of 30% of your total calories. Meat is often the primary source of fat in an individuals diet. Consider switching to lower fat cuts of meat and to consuming more chicken, turkey and fish. Look for "hidden" fats in foods: *full fat cheeses *marbeling in meat *snack foods
